ABOUT HEADSTAND
Headstand is a creative design company that engages in special projects, the first of which is a wallpaper response to the inspiring beadwork produced by the Marigold co-operative in Bulawayo. It is a fitting first project that sets the tone for Headstand in the shared understanding of creativity as playful variation on a theme, rather than any stuffy notion of genius or divinely inspired talent.
THE MARIGOLD BEADS WALLPAPER RANGE
Marigold is a long-standing beadwork co-operative in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe. Since 2011 they have collaborated with artist Joni Brenner to produce the signature hand-loomed beaded necklaces, pure loops of tiny seed beads expertly loomed and unendingly varied in pattern and colour combinations. Occasionally Marigold has developed bespoke designs in collaboration with artists, scientists and designers.
This first range of wallpapers developed in collaboration with Headstand marks ten years of making the necklaces. The 16 wallpaper designs, each, of course, with several variations, are based on the beadwork and are named for each of the 16 members of the co-operative.
Marigold wallpaper is designed and printed in South Africa.
